Diving into Innovation: IC Tech Hub’s VR Project in Donkerbos.
Recently, a research team of the IC Tech Hub embarked on a transformative journey to the Donkerbos community, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and collaboration. Co-facilitated by JD Isaacs an intern of the IC Tech Hub and Chris Muashekele, alongside architect Nina Burger, the team ventured into the heart of Donkerbos with a shared mission: to uplift and empower through technology.
For Nina, the trip meant delving into architectural development, bringing her expertise to enhance the community’s infrastructure for a self-sustaining community hub. Meanwhile, JD embarked on his first field experience, immersing himself in the vibrant culture of Donkerbos for our latest Virtual Reality (VR) project.
JD’s role in the project, “Let’s Dance /Hi//Ka//Kusi,” was pivotal. He facilitated project research, organised user studies, and conducted demos, all while engaging directly with the Donkerbos community. This hands-on approach not only enriched his understanding but also fostered meaningful connections with the locals.
Through initiatives like “Let’s Dance /Hi//Ka//Kusi,” the IC Tech Hub continues to redefine the boundaries of innovation. By prioritizing inclusivity and collaboration, we aim to create technology that serves as a bridge between communities, fostering a brighter, more interconnected future for all.
