Exploring Tourism’s Future: World Tourism Day Conference at NUST
On the 27th of September 2023, our Tech Hub intern, JD Isaacs, took part in the prestigious NUST World Tourism Day conference, showcasing our cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) applications. The focus of our demonstrations revolved around the theme of Digital Tourism, aiming to redefine the way we experience and interact with cultural heritage.
JD presented two immersive VR experiences that captivated attendees: “Let’s dance /Hi//Ka//Kusi with non-player character Ju/’Hoansi women in Virtual Reality” and “Hunting with the Ju/’hoansi in the Kalahari: A co-created VR gesture application.”
The first demo transported participants into the vibrant world of traditional Ju/’Hoansi dance, allowing them to engage with virtual characters in a mesmerizing cultural performance. The second showcased a collaborative VR experience, enabling users to explore the art of hunting with the Ju/’hoansi through intuitive gesture-based interactions.
These demonstrations not only showcased the technological prowess of our VR applications but also highlighted their potential to revolutionize the tourism industry. By offering immersive experiences that bridge the gap between technology and culture, we aim to inspire a new generation of travelers to explore destinations in innovative ways.
The NUST World Tourism Day conference provided an ideal platform to share our vision for the future of digital tourism. We are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of VR technology, enriching travel experiences, and preserving cultural heritage for generations to come.
